The Fairtrade Foundation licenses the use of, and promotes, the Fairtrade Mark in the UK.
The Fairtrade Foundation is the UK member of the Fairtrade Labelling Organisation (FLO) – a standard setting body. FLO-Cert, a separate organization, is responsible for the inspection and certification of producer organisations against the Fairtrade Standards. The independence of the inspections ensures that the Fairtrade Minimum Price reaches the producers and that the Fairtrade Certification Mark is only used on products coming from Fairtrade Certified Producers. For more information on the Fairtrade Foundation, click here to visit their website.
The key awareness raising campaign run by the Fairtrade Foundation is the annual Fairtrade Fortnight campaign. The Fairtrade Foundation also administer the Fairtrade towns, churches, universities and schools scheme in which a steering group will work towards certain targets to obtain Fairtrade status.
Its key aims are to create an increase in sales of Fairtrade products and a quantifiable increase in awareness of Fairtrade.
Fairtrade Fortnight brings together all of the organisations that work in Fairtrade, including development agencies, licensees and retailers such as BAFTS members, to create a huge range of events, talks, promotions, coffee mornings and displays across the country.
The dates set for 2008 are 25 February to 9 March. Fairtrade Fortnight also involves a producer tour of the UK.

NB: Fairtrade (one word) is the trademark of the Fairtrade Labelling Organisation and should only be used when referring to a Fairtrade Marked product (food, cotton, footballs) or in relation to a Fairtrade Foundation led scheme, i.e. Fairtrade towns or school scheme.
The broader Fair Trade movement should be written as two words and this encompasses all Fair Trade products- from crafts to food. The International Fair Trade Association is the best source of information on Fair Trade products and producers.
